'Accelerators' Offer Daily Summer Cross Country Meets!

Be a summer runner cross country races each Thursday night from June 17 through July 19 at Wheeler Park in Geneva.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. each night at the pavilion, a course walk begins at 5:30 p.m. and the first children’s race starts at 6 p.m., with adult races to follow.  Registration closes at the start of the first race.  

Ribbons awarded to all participants.  Make your summer neat—come and use your feet!

Races are for the following age groups:

  • Grades 5 and under 
  • Grades 6 through 8 
  • Grades 9 and 10 a.m. girls 
  • Grades 9 and 10 boys 
  • Grades 11 and 12 
  • Open Race (ages high school and above)
  • Master Race 

The summer cross country races are hosted by the Batavia Accelerators Youth Running Club.

Coaches Scott Kurth and Keith Gollwitzer emphasize having fun while competing.  Participants of the club train and compete year round in events around the Chicago area.  Family members and parents are invited and encouraged to run with thier children.  

All youth, from ages 4 to 18 are welcome to join the club. There is no membership cost and you do not need to live in Batavia to join. 

All levels of expirience are welcome and runners may join the club at any time.

The Batavia Accelerators practice Monday through Friday at the Windmill in the Fabyan Park from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Weekend practices vary by location.
