Fatally Shot Woman, 43, Found Dead Outside Her Geneva Home: Police

A relative called to report the woman missing since Tuesday, prompting officers to investigate the "suspicious death," officials said.

GENEVA, IL — A 43-year-old woman was found dead outside her Geneva home, police said Thursday afternoon. Geneva detectives are investigating the "suspicious death," which they said appears to be from a gunshot wound.

No charges have been filed in the case, but the investigation remains ongoing.

At 8:02 p.m. Wednesday, Geneva police received a call from one of the woman's Chicago-area relatives reporting her "possibly missing" since 5 a.m. Tuesday. Geneva and St. Charles police went to the house in the 700 block of McKinley Avenue to conduct a well-being check, officials said.

When they arrived at the house, they met with a male family member who police said was unable to answer questions or provide "any substantiated information on the missing woman." After searching the man's property, police found the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police brought the man into custody as a person of interest, officials said. No names have been released.
