Festival Of The Vine Will Require Downtown Geneva Street Closures: PD

For the first time, the festival will be held on South James and Fourth streets unlike in past years when it took place on State Street.

GENEVA, IL — Festival of the Vine, an annual celebration of food and wine, is just one week out. Ahead of the three-day event, police are warning residents of road closures in downtown Geneva.

For the first time, the festival, taking place Sept. 9-11, will be held on South James and Fourth streets unlike in past years when it occurred on State Street.

As a result, several roadways in downtown Geneva will be closed to through traffic a few days before and on the day of the event.

Police are asking people not to remove temporary "no parking signs" that will be posted on wooded stakes as they are meant to create a safe environment for festival-goers.

"The Geneva Police Department appreciates the public’s patience and hopes everyone has a safe and enjoyable festival experience," officials said in a news release.

For three days, the festival will feature fine restaurants, an arts and crafts show, merchant wine events, business booths, activities for children, and complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides, Patch reported.

This year's entertainment will include longtime 101.9 The Mix host Lisa Allen.
