The area’s first gold coin of the holiday season was dropped into a Salvation Army kettle during Christmas Walk festivities in Geneva Friday night, the Kane County Chronicle reports. The one-ounce double eagle coin was found in a kettle manned by volunteers from the Geneva Kiwanis Club at State Street Jewelers.

The Salvation Army typically collects all the gold coins donated and brings them to an auction to try and bring in more money, according to the Kane County Chronicle. A similar coin has netted $1,300 in the past.
