Flooding Closes Fox River Trail, Forest Preserve Sites In Kane Co.
The Forest Preserve District asks preserve and trail users to heed the closures and use caution around impacted areas.

Several Kane County Forest Preserve sites are temporarily closed due to flooding, downed trees and other damage from this past week's heavy storms. In addition, the Fox River Trail is closed at Stearns Road in South Elgin and at Arthur Andersen Forest Preserve in St. Charles is closed due to flooding. Currently, part or all of the following Kane County forest preserves are closed:
- Brunner Family Forest Preserve in Dundee
- Buffalo Park Forest Preserve in Algonquin
- Carpentersville Dam in Carpentersville
- Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve in Elgin
- Raceway Woods Forest Preserve in Carpentersville
- Voyageur Landing Forest Preserve in Dundee
- The Fabyan Causeway within Fabyan West Forest Preserve
The back of Hampshire Forest Preserve in Hampshire was closed Thursday due to the number of large, downed trees. Staff hopes to have Hampshire back open by Friday.
Forest Preserve staff began cleanup efforts on June 12. The district will post updates on its website at www.kaneforest.com and on its Facebook page as conditions improve and areas reopen.
