Safe Haven Dog Rescue is always in need of more foster homes!
We do not have a physical location and rely upon the generosity of families that open their homes to provide a temporary Safe Haven. Fostering is a challenging but rewarding experience.
We pay for all vetting, food, toys, leash and collar for the foster dog or puppy. You provide love, socialization, and start the dog or puppy on basic training. An adoption coordinator is always available to discuss any challenges that you are facing. We want a successful experience for you and the dog in your care.
We can only save as many dogs as we have foster homes for. Every week we have to turn away hundreds of requests to accept dogs into our adoption program.
These are some of the dogs needing foster:
Missy - Missy is an older Beagle mix - they are saying about 7 years old, and she is about to have puppies! She was left to fend for herself in Tennessee where she was taken on by a wonderful Animal Control officer that does her best to find rescue for all the souls that enter her doors. We will be bringing Missy to Illinois soon and are looking for a foster home where she can be safe and take care of her puppies when they arrive.

Annie - Annie is a Flat Coated Retriever/Lab mix that recently had a litter of beautiful puppies. Her puppies are weaned and we would like to place her in a foster home or find her forever family. She is great with children and other dogs and has an amazing and sweet personality.
Rubie - DOB 3/10/15 Rubie was adopted early this summer. Through no fault of her own, she was taken to an animal shelter and surrendered. After learning that Rubie came from Safe Haven, they contacted us and we welcomed her back with open arms. She is currently in boarding and we would love to find her a foster or forever home!

Lance - DOB 6/19/2013 Lance was abandoned in Florida and is one of the lucky ones! He found rescue with us here in Illinois and we are seeking a foster or forever home for him.
Murphy - Murphy a dog we rescued from the Everglades. He had a severe injury and had to have his eye removed. He was given a clean bill of health and adapted well to having vision in one eye. SADLY, Murphy had an acute attack of glaucoma and has lost sight in his other eye. Murphy is now totally blind and needs a special home. The vet is very clear that he MUST be in a home with someone home during the day to help him adjust to being blind. The vet believes he will adjust 100% to being blind as he is one of the friendliest dogs she has ever met. Even in pain, during the attack, and sudden darkness he wagged his tail while receiving his emergency treatment. He has a GREAT prognosis for a full and happy life. He is 4-5 years old, neutered, up-to-date on all shots, housebroken, loves to carry toys and walks beautiful on leash. He will do best in a home with few stairs and a fenced yard as he learns to explore again. He will need help as he adjusts to a new home and should learn voice commands. He would also do good with another dog but this is not a requirement. He is an amazing dog and we believe deserves another chance at being part of a family. He will arrive in Illinois the week of November 17th. We would like to find a foster to adopt home so that Murphy does not have to adjust twice.
