Foster Homes Needed Saturday 9/21!

Safe Haven Dog Rescue is seeking loving foster homes THIS Saturday 9/21 for our HOMECOMING Transport!

The dogs and puppies listed are in Tennessee and in desperate need of rescue. We would like to bring them here to Illinois, but we need committed foster homes first. Please take a moment to read about these hopeful dogs and puppies to see if you, or someone you know, would be interested in opening your home to foster. These pups deserve a HOMECOMING!

Blu – She is a one year old Blu Black Lab mix. She’s about 50lbs and all legs! She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines. She’s the perfect mix of chill and playful! She is also dog friendly, crate trained and housebroken. She knows how to sit, shake, lie down, and be awesome. Super kissy and sweet!

Doris – Female Yellow Lab Mix about 2 years old and 40lbs. She was shy and unsure of "us humans" when she arrived at the shelter, but has decided that there are good people in the world and we aren't so bad after all. She has quickly become one of the shelter favorites. Her best day ever is when she is being petted and loved. Unfortunately she is heartworm positive and will need treatment that Safe Haven will provide. It is not contagious to the other dogs in your home as long as they are on heartworm preventative.

Petra – Female, mixed breed, about 2 years old. Petra has been living in a home with a family and loves everyone. Unfortunately, she is not kept fenced or on a leash and has been found several times by the county wandering about (what dog wouldn’t!). Although her family said they were going to reclaim her, they have not come for her. She is sad at the shelter, it’s not the life she is used to! She would appreciate a family that will be responsible for her and keep her safe.

Diamond – You HAVE to READ THIS! She is a Female mixed breed, about 6 years old and 55lbs. This sweet girl found herself being left behind when her family moved and couldn't take her along. She is a precious dog, so loving and sweet. She enjoys her playtime with other dogs and just getting a few minutes of love is pure joy for her. She will make an excellent family member. She is heartworm NEGATIVE and keeps a clean kennel. The saddest thing is that because she is likely part Pitbull, she cannot be adopted out in the county because they have a bully breed ban. Because of this, she has been IN THE SHELTER FOR OVER 700 DAYS! And she still keeps her kennel clean and her spirits up. Will you please consider giving her the chance to have a loving family again?

Cheri – Female, young mix breed who wandered into a friendly shelter volunteer’s yard. The volunteer took one look at her and realized this girl needed OUT of wherever she had been. If you look, you can see that some horrible person has cut this poor dog’s ears off! This mistreatment has not broken her spirit! She's a sweet girl who really wants attention and deserves a chance at happiness.

Bubba -Male mix…possibly Pointer or Heeler, Estimated age 8-10 months and 76lbs. This boy's only crime was growing up to be bigger than his owner thought he would be when he got him as a puppy, so much for unconditional love! He is a beautiful dog, but his photos cannot capture his handsomeness! You should see him with his perked up ears! He is extremely sweet and loves to be petted. Hi is a big lug who is willing and eager to learn.

Lil JJ - Is he not the cutest little Chocolate Lab mix?? He has brindle legs and looks like he either has socks on or has gotten into the mud!!! He's approximately 12 weeks old and will be about 14 weeks upon arrival. He's just the sweetest little guy who came to the shelter on his own. He'd love to come here and have a family.

Betty – AKA Beautiful Betty or Betty Boop. Female Beagle Mix about 2 years old. She is the perfect size and friendly as can be. Her pictures do not capture hear beauty and spirit! She is a typical Beagle, acting like a clown and loving life. Would you be willing to let her protect your yard from squirrels?

Link-Male, mixed breed, about 8 months old and 35lbs. talk about a Heinz 57, this little fella's DNA is anybody's guess! What we do know is he is a gorgeous brindle, cute as a button and as sweet as can be. His long legs and long lean body are ready to play fetch or frisbee. He is full of fun, loves humans, plays well with other dogs and LOVES attention.

Dara- Female, Black Lab mix, about 2 years old and 45lbs. This perfect sized girl fits in all home situations. As you see from the blurry tail, she is a happy little one! She is friendly and loving and just waiting for a family to call her own.

Raven - This beautiful little girl is about 6 months old and a hound mix (based on her ears). She was found abandoned with a HORRIBLE case of Demodex mange (NON Contagious). She has already started treatment down south and her hair is starting to grow back. She needs a family that will provide her the love and care she needs to heal.

Bianca – Female Rat Terrier mix, about 4 years old. This spunky girl kept the animal control officers on their toes while she was on the loose!! She finally gave in to let them capture her (because we know she could have gotten away if she wanted to, she’s a sly one!) and now she'd like to find a forever home in IL. She is HW negative and has a typical playful terrier personality.

Spanky- Male, Boxer mix, about 1 year old and 42lbs. What a great guy! His best friend at the shelter is another male dog and they play all day long! His hobbies include being silly, doggie wrestling with his mates, and greeting humans with a wagging tail. He has been introduced to a young child & welcomed her petting. He is a great size too!

Polly – Oh my gosh, look at this beautiful girl! She is a Chocolate Lab mix about 2 years old. She has all the typical lab traits…loving, goofy, and eager to learn. Who wants to give her a chance to find a forever family?

Scout- Male, Terrier/hound mix, about 12-16 weeks old. Scout is so timid! He was dumped at the shelter and was extremely malnourished, you could see every rib! He is slowly gaining weight and learning to trust humans, but he has clearly been neglected and let down by people. When he first arrived, he would stay in the back of his crate and just hang his head when spoken to. He is coming out of his shell, a little bit at a time, and had actually ventured out of his open crate door to be closer to people.

Cady - Border Collie mix. Cady and her brother Cody were surrendered to the shelter together. Cody has found a foster and will be coming to Illinois on 9/21, but we would hate to leave his sister behind. They have both been scared in the shelter and Cady will need a foster family that will allow her the time to transition back into a home setting.

Darcy - About 1.5 years old. This sweetheart is the mom of London, one of the puppies that we brought to Illinois a few weeks ago. She is good with other dogs and humans and would love to pack her bags and come north. Would you be willing to let her crash at your house until she finds her forever family?

Safe Haven provides you with everything you need while you foster. You also have the first option to adopt the dog in your care.

We need to know by THIS Thursday 9/19 in order to get them vetted in time to travel. Transport will arrive mid-afternoon Saturday, September 21st. Please don't delay!
