Friendship Village Holds Annual Amerifest Celebration

Friendship Village celebrated all things American at Amerifest, an event that has become a favorite of the residents.

It was a celebration of all things American as Friendship Village held its annual Amerifest. The event, which has become a favorite of the residents of the retirement community, paid adage to times gone by, with entertainment, games, food and more.

Amerifest began with a country fair-style buffet and music by beloved crooner Jeffrey Deutsch. Moving outdoors, residents were then treated to carnival games, board games and a bocce ball tournament. Entertainment was provided by Seamoor-The One Man Band, and Fast Eddie and the Corvettes.

A highlight of Amerifest was a classic car show featuring 15 cars and trucks in pristine condition.

“The residents love Amerifest,” said Donna Brown, lifestyles activity manager. “Our residents tend to be forward thinking, and really embrace the present while looking forward to the future. But they do love a nostalgic look at the past, and that’s what Amerifest brings.”
