Gas Gauge: Strange Gas Prices in Wake of Bin Laden News
Not sure what the reason, but the gas prices were all over the map today. The bad news is that all over the map is 50 cents more than a month ago.
Maybe it was the bin Laden news, maybe it was some economic force that we don't see or hear, but the gas prices spotted in Geneva today were all over the place.
BP and Meijer were both at $4.19 this afternoon (Monday), but Shell on the East Side, which usually has a middle-of-the-pack price was selling a gallon of regular at $4.45! The rest of the bunch were around $4.39 a gallon—although the West Side Citgo was 2 cents less than the East Side Citgo.
GasBuddy (IllinoisGasPrices.com) reported that oil prices actually sank after the bin Laden news, but comments that followed suggested that gas prices would go up because of fear of possible terrorist reprisals.
