Gas Price Update: Geneva Prices Continue Falling Ahead Of Labor Day
The average price for gas in Kane County was about $4.20 per gallon Thursday. Here's where to find the cheapest gas in Geneva.
GENEVA, IL — With Labor Day weekend here, many are planning to hit the road and visit a new place. Much to drivers' relief, gas prices in Geneva continue dropping.
The average price for gas in Illinois is $4.15 per gallon as of Thursday, according to AAA. That's 6 cents cheaper than a week ago and about 48 cents lower than the average a month ago.
At around $4.20 per gallon in Kane County, gas prices were slightly above the state average. Nationally, the price per gallon of gas remains below $4 for an average of $3.82 Thursday.

"Drivers are now benefiting from gas prices that are $1.11 less than their peak in mid-June," Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said in a statement. "But now we need to keep an eye on the weather as hurricane season arrives. These storms can affect prices by disrupting oil production in the Gulf of Mexico and impacting large coastal refineries."

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Geneva is selling for $4.15 per gallon at Amoco, 1166 E. State St. Here is what other stations around town are charging:
- Shell at 1491 E. State St.: $4.15 per gallon
- Amstar at 1501 E. State St.: $4.15 per gallon
