Gas Price Update: Some Relief At The Pump For Geneva Drivers

The average price for a gallon of gas in Kane County was $4.09 as of Wednesday.

GENEVA, IL — The national average for a gallon of gas has seen a slight decrease, according to AAA, providing some relief to Geneva drivers.

As of Wednesday, the average price for a gallon of gas in Illinois was $4.01 — that's down 4 cents from a week ago and up 18 cents from a month ago, AAA data shows.

At around $4.09 per gallon in Kane County, gas prices were in line with the state average. The last time Patch took a look at gas prices in the county, they were averaging $4.20 per gallon.

Nationally, the price per gallon of gas was going for an average of $3.58 Wednesday.

"The national average reached $3.68 last week, and that might be the peak price for now," Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said in his latest news release April 27. "As long as the oil cost keeps wobbling around the low to mid $70s per barrel, drivers will benefit when they fuel up."

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Geneva is selling for $4.09 per gallon at Amstar, 1501 E. State St. Here is what other stations around town are charging:

  • Shell, 1491 E. State St.: $4.09 per gallon
  • Amoco, 1166 E. State St.: $4.13 per gallon
