Geneva Brush Collection Will Begin In April

Via the program, residents can dispose of tree limbs and branches that are removed for normal maintenance and upkeep, not for lot clearing.

GENEVA, IL — Geneva's brush collection starts in April, just in time for the weather to warm up and spring cleaning to occur.

The city's program divides Geneva into two zones, with brush from each being picked up once a month beginning in April and lasting through November.

Through the program, residents can dispose of tree limbs and branches that are removed for normal maintenance and upkeep, not for lot clearing, officials noted. Kramer Tree Specialists, contracted by the city, will not collect brush cleared by a private contractor.

Tree branches should be stacked with all cut ends facing the same direction. Branches and stumps can't exceed 12 inches in diameter, and tree limbs should measure less than 12 feet long.

Collection days can vary, so residents are encouraged to set brush and tree limbs at the curb by 7 a.m. on the Monday of their designated week. Once crews stop by a neighborhood, they won't return until the next scheduled pickup.

There will be two instances — in July and in September — when pickup will take place a week later than normal due to the Fourth of July and Labor Day holidays.

A schedule and progress map can be found on the city's website. It will be updated weekday mornings, officials said.
