Geneva D308 Hires New Director Of Learning And Teaching
She has experience working with students on all levels, from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, district officials said.

GENEVA, IL — A new director of learning and teaching has been appointed at Geneva Community Unit School District 304.
The Board of Education approved the hiring of Dimitra Georganas at its April 27 meeting. She is due to begin July 1.
Georganas will take over the role from George Petmezas, who was promoted to assistant superintendent of learning and teaching following Shonette Sims's retirement.

Georganas has experience working with students on all levels, from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, district officials said.
She most recently served for two years as the district curriculum coordinator in Lockport School District 91. Her resume also includes working as a math teacher at Lockport Township High School, as well as a mathematics specialist, instructional coach and Response to Intervention facilitator at Pleasantdale Middle School in Pleasantdale School District 107.

She later served as assistant principal at Ridge Central Elementary School in Chicago Ridge School District 127.5 and as principal at Oakwood School in Lemont School District 113A. Her experience also includes teaching as an adjunct professor at Concordia University.
"Ms. Georganas is an accomplished educator who brings strong content knowledge, a diverse background of professional experiences, and a commitment to educators and students to this new role," Superintendent Andy Barrett said in a statement. "We are excited to welcome her to Geneva 304."
Georganas received her bachelor's degree in mathematics education and a master's degree in educational administration and supervision from Saint Xavier University.
