Geneva Park District Awarded For Financial Reporting Excellence

It's the 11th consecutive year the Geneva Park District received the certificate from the Government Finance Officers Association.

GENEVA, IL — The Geneva Park District has been awarded for excellence in financial reporting for the 11th consecutive year, officials said Wednesday.

The park district received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its report for the fiscal year that ended April 30, 2021.

The award — considered the highest form of recognition in its area — is distributed by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The organization awards state and local governments for "outstanding transparency" in accounting and financial reporting.

Nominees are judged by an impartial panel and have to demonstrate a "spirit of full disclosure" in financial reporting, according to a news release from the park district.

"We are extremely proud of this award because it represents our commitment to fiscal responsibility," Christy Powell, Geneva Park District superintendent of finance and personnel, said in a statement. "Our purpose as a Park District is to positively impact our community, and that mission requires exceptional accounting and transparency. We will continue to work to provide financial reporting that meets these goals."
