Geneva Police BBQ Lunch To Benefit Special Olympics

GENEVA, IL — Geneva residents and businesses looking for lunch ideas Friday, Sept. 22 can participate in the Geneva Police Department's 15th annual Josef's Barbeque for Special Olympics.

The lunch includes a BBQ pork sandwich, cole slaw, chips, and a cookie that will be delivered by a Geneva police officer. Orders cost $9 per person and can be placed by Wednesday, Sept. 20 with Geneva Police Sgt. Mark Russo by calling 630-232-4736 or sending him an email. Participants can choose to have their lunches delivered at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or noon.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympics Illinois.

The lunch also honors the memory of former Geneva Police Officer Keith Koza, who started an annual pig roast in 2008 to raise money for Special Olympics. Koza continued the tradition the following year while fighting cancer that ultimately took his life shortly after the fundraiser.

The lunch is one of the fundraising platforms for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which is a collaborative effort from officers across the nation to raise money for Special Olympics.

The Geneva Police Department appreciates the public’s support for this worthy mission.
