Geneva Science Teacher Named Kane Co. Educator of the Year

KANE COUNTY, IL - A science teacher at Geneva Middle School South has been named as Kane County Educator of the Year. Matt Gain received the recognition during the Kane County Regional Office of Education's annual awards banquet on Friday, April 28. In total, 44 educators were nominated and recognized during the banquet.

The awards dinner held Friday at the Q Center, 1405 North Fifth Street in St. Charles, provides an opportunity to honor outstanding members of the education profession in Kane County and to promote awareness of the quality education being provided in our schools, according to a news release from the Regional Office of Education. Special recognition is also given to those retiring from education this school year.

• Regional Superintendent Award #2: Cindy Miller, Kaneland High School, District 302
• Educational Service Personnel Award: Debra Brannon, St. Charles North High School, District 303
• Student Support Personnel Award: Bruce Fraser, West Aurora High School, District 129
• Early Career Educator Award: Angellica Ahng, Cowherd Middle School, District 131
• Pre-School Teacher of the Year: Ivonne Serrano, O’Donnell Elementary School, District 131
• Elementary School Teacher of the Year: Mary Jensen, Alice Gustafson Elementary School, District 101
• Middle School Teacher of the Year: Amy O’Herron, Carpentersville Middle School, District 300
• High School Teacher of the Year: Michael Schmidt, Central High School, District 301
• School Administrator of the Year: Suzanne Johnson, Administration Office, District U-46
