Geneva Street Revamp Program Completion Expected In October

Geneva's street program began with sidewalk removal July 29. Here's an overview of the construction schedule for the upcoming weeks.

GENEVA, IL — Geneva's street improvement program for the year kicked off with sidewalk removal at the end of July. While work will continue throughout August, the entire project isn't expected to be completed until October, officials said.

City officials are working with Geneva Construction to develop a schedule for the 14 road resurfacing and draining projects that are included in this year's street improvement program. A look at the projects can be found on the city's website.

An informational meeting will be hosted at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Geneva Public Works Department, 1800 South St., to give the public more details about the construction. Staff will provide guests with an overview of the project and answer any questions.

Here is an overview of the tentative construction schedule, which is weather-dependent, for August:

  • Aug. 1-2: Continue saw cutting and removing sidewalk and curb concrete on Viking Drive. Operations will transition to Kaneville Road.
  • Aug. 3-4: Kaneville Road sidewalk and curb removal continues. Crews start framing and pouring new concrete on Viking Drive.
  • Aug. 5: Crews finish removing sidewalk/curbs on Kaneville Road and proceed to Pioneer Court. Concrete pouring continues on Viking Drive and starts on Kaneville Road.
  • Aug. 8-12: With sidewalk/curb removal completed, crews will keep framing and pouring new concrete on Kanevlle Road and Pioneer Court.
  • Aug. 15-19: Crews begin to clean up sidewalk/curb sites on all three roadways, and landscape work begins later in the week.
