GENEVA, IL — Trees along the east bank of the Fox River in Geneva will be trimmed in January, officials announced Tuesday.

ComEd will be the company trimming the trees as it runs power lines through Geneva, even though the city owns and operates its own electric utility. Officials said the vegetation management program helps ensure electrical reliability since branches coming into contact with power lines is a leading cause of outages.

Affected residents will be notified by ComEd when tree trimming will take place in their neighborhood.
