The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory from 6 p.m. on Jan. 24 through noon on Jan. 25. Wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero are expected for much of northeast Illinois.
Low wind chills may cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes and could eventually lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If people must be outside, they should make sure to wear a hat, gloves and layers of clothes.
