Geneva's Mill Race Inn Sold to the Shodeen Family
Closed for more than three years, the historic riverfront property could see new life.
Geneva's historic Mill Race Inn has been sold to the Shodeen family.
Closed in January 2011, the historic restaurant at 4 E. State St. occupies a 15,000-square-foot building on 1.3 acres and listed for $2.2 million. The sale price was not disclosed in a news release issued Tuesday by the family. The asking price was reduced several times, most recently to $890,000 in May 2013.
Nick DiBrizzi of Coldwell Banker told the Chicago Tribune last May that interested parties in the property included restaurant groups and developers who might build riverfront condos or boutique hotel. At the time, he thought a sale was imminent.
