Geneva's Top 10 Most Dangerous Intersections

This just in from the Geneva Police Department stats for 2010: the 10 intersections with the most accidents. Can you guess which one is No. 1?

There were a grand total of 417 accidents at intersections in Geneva in 2010. That number is up slightly from 2009, when there were 410 reported by the Geneva Police Department.

While the number of intersection-related accidents is up, the good news is that the overall number of accidents is down. According to the report by Cmdr. Eric Passarelli, Geneva saw 995 accidents in 2010 compared to 1,034 in 2009, a decrease of 4 percent.

A little more good news is that Geneva's most dangerous intersection got a little less dangerous. The intersection of Kaneville/Keslinger Road led the league with 32. That's down from 44 in 2009, according to the report, which presently is available on the city's website in the Tuesday, Jan. 18, meeting minutes.

It's not easy to find. To download a PDF, go to the city's website, click on "City Government," the find City Council meeting agenda under "elected officials" on the left of Mayor Kevin Burns' photo, then click on the the link at the top of that page: http://www.geneva.il.us/agendas/cc.pdf.

The Top 5 most dangerous have that distinction by a good margin. As you might expect, three are on Randall Road and two are on Kirk Road, at one time dubbed "Killer Kirk" for the number of accidents.

Kirk's dangerous reputation appears to be on the wane. Randall Road has the Most Dangerous Street title pretty much wrapped up.

If you're on Geneva's streets and not on an intersection, Route 38 (State Street) is the most likely place for your car to get bumped. Outside of the intersections, there were 69 accidents on State, 41 on Randall, 14 on Fabyan Parkway, 13 on Route 25 11 on Route 31 and 10 on Kirk.

The Top 10 Most Dangerous Intersections of 2010 for Geneva are as follows:

Rank Intersection 2010 Accidents 1 Kaneville/Keslinger
and Randall Road 32 2 Fabyan Parkway
