Gia Mia in Geneva Looking to Add Patio Seating

The pizza and pasta place on Third Street just opened in March.

GENEVA, IL - Gia Mia opened on Third Street in March and is now looking to add a 32-seat patio for outdoor seating -- an addition that received preliminary approval from aldermen on Monday, the Daily Herald reports.

Gia Mia, at 13 N. Third Street, would need to pay the city $30,000 to build the patio where three parking spaces are currently located on the north side of the building, according to the article. City law typically requires businesses to replace parking spaces within 350 square feet of the restaurant but city staff said that in this case, that is not physically possible. The $30,000 fee would be paid over three years and go into fund to pay for downtown parking.

If the deal gets formal approval, the owners of Gia Mia, which serves up pasta and pizza, would open their patio in 30 days, according to the newspaper.
