Great teachers give more than grades, they lend a helping hand
Local teachers serve students and families at McTeacher's Night to raise money for Founders Elementary School PTO.
DeKalb | Founders Elementary School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support local education.
Over twenty Founders teachers volunteered behind the counter on Thursday, January 24, at the DeKalb McDonald’s located on Lincoln Highway, where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for Founders School.
Mrs. Robyn Timmerman, Assistant Principal, Founders School was at the event the entire night talking with the families and dressed as a Pie. Teachers Schimbke, Bell, and Carlson sold the pies during the night and did a fabulous job raising funds for Founders PTO. Sonia Enriquez worked hard making ice cream treats while Assistant Principal, Robyn Timmerman also worked the Drive-Thru.

Megan Scott, Founders PTO Co-Vice President, did an outstanding job working hard throughout the night and coordinating the entire event with McDonald’s. The proceeds from the sale of 161 pies went directly to benefit Founders. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were also donated directly to Founders PTO, which plans to use the money for field trips and buses.
Founders PTO President, Megan Jackson, Founders PTO Co-Vice President, Megan Scott and Founders PTO Treasurer, Kendra Moore, were all at the event the entire night and worked extremely hard alongside the Founders Staff. The Founders community has one amazing network of support for their school, especially to come to support the school in the bitter cold weather.

John Lardas, Owner/Operator of the DeKalb McDonald’s, and Yanni Management were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.
“McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community,” Lardas said.
“We are proud to serve the families of the Founders Elementary community and through the McTeacher’s Night event. In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”
Lardas donated a case of apple pies to the school for sale at the event. Inspired by the success of McTeacher’s Night, Yanni Management has set their sights on partnering with other schools in the DeKalb area.
“Assistant Principal Timmerman and everyone who rolled up their sleeves in support of this event” is the fabric that strengthens our community,” Lardas said.
