Hey, Beer Lovers! Work Starts at Penrose Brewing in Geneva
First beers brewed will be Proto Gradus, Navette, P2 and Devoir. Read more to find out what that means.

After three years of planning, financing, permitting and paperwork, build out is under way at Penrose Brewing Company on Stevens Street, and the shared dream of opening and operating a brewery is within reach for co-founders Eric Hobbs and Tom Korder, both former Goose Island employees.
The new brewing company at 409 Stevens St. is a 14,000-square-foot space that will feature craft beers that will be sold at local bars and restaurants, with beer available in November. Bottles are scheduled to be released in early 2014.

FIRST BEERS
Proto Gradus
Belgian-inspired Single, subtle floral hop layered with fruity yeast aroma. Bready maltiness, slightly citric with a light body, but distinctly yeast forward. Crisp, clean, and quenching, as was intended.
Navette
A Belgian-inspired Black Ale with herbal, toasted aroma. Medium body, smooth texture, with bitter chocolate flavor in full support of the Ardennes yeast character. Long dry finish, turns from sweet to bitter.
P2
Belgian-inspired Pale with tropical fruit, clove, and resiney aroma. Heady carb and medium body with sweet malt and Belgian candy sugar middle. Finishes dry with an aggressive, yet balanced, hop bitterness.DevoirFrench-style saison with citrus yeast esters, and subdued earth tone. Effervescent and airy. Simple, clean, and smooth saison yeast with slightly less spice than its Belgian cousin. Mild hop bitterness, subtly tart and dry finish.
Devoir
