Geneva's Jeremy D'Amico Leads Wolves to Division II National Championship

Geneva's 6-6 forward Jeremy D'Amico scores key baskets to help the Wisconsin university men's basketball team to its first-ever NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.

Geneva's Jeremy D’Amico was the man Tuesday night, as the Cardinal Stritch University Wolves men’s basketball team won its first-ever NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship.

The Wolves beat beat the No. 1-ranked William Penn University Statesmen 73-59.

D’Amico started the scoring with a 12-foot jump shot, then hit a 3-pointer to give the Wolves a 5-2 early lead, according to an article in the Stritch University website.

He later hit two key free throws to cut a Statesmen lead to 25-24, then "turned the tide" with a 3-pointer to give the Wolves a 31-29 lead with four minutes to go in the first half. D’Amico led the Wolves with 12 points as they took a 39-36 lead going to halftime.

The Wolves dominated the second half to earn the national title.

Cardinal Stritch is located on Milwaukee's North Shore. Stritch will be hosting a championship rally on the campus at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 13), according to the article by David Snieg, the univserity's director of sports information.
