'It's A Wonderful Life' Radio Play By Playhouse 38: Auditions Open

GENEVA, IL — Playhouse 38 is preparing for the holiday season when it will put on its latest production, "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play."

The upcoming adult performance will run for three days in December. Leading up to opening night, the Geneva Park District-operated playhouse will hold auditions Oct. 29 for the Christmas drama.

Auditions are set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Stephen Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Road. Registration, which is free, is open on the park district's website.

Actors must be at least 18 years old but don't have to have previous theater experience. Anyone interested in auditioning should memorize a short monologue and be prepared to read sections of the play selected by the director.

Productions wouldn't operate without backstage staff, and the theater is also looking for locals to help in those departments. Those interested should contact Cultural Arts and Recreation Coordinator Tanya Osika at tosika@genevaparks.com.

Rehearsals will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 8, Nov. 15, Nov. 20 and Nov. 29-30. Performances will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 2, and 3 p.m. Dec. 3. Tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 day-of and will be available for purchase online.
