Kane Co. Doctors, Nurses Urged To Help Fight Coronavirus

The Kane County Health Department and state health officials are asking licensed medical professionals to sign up to help.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Kane Co. health officials are joining state health officials in calling on medical professionals to step up to help aid in the fight the spread of the new coronavirus, according to a Kane County Health Department news release. All licensed healthcare providers are urged to register on the Illinois Helps website, which is an online volunteer management system that tracks healthcare workers who are available to respond, when activated, to a significant disaster or public health emergency.

The call for help includes physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician assistants, medics, LPNs, CNAs, podiatrists, and dentists, according to a news release.

Once someone has registered to become a volunteer with Illinois Helps, their professional credentials will be verified and added to a secure statewide database. Volunteers will be part of an alert system and will be contacted when their expertise matches a need by the local, regional, or state missions, according to the news release.
