A wine bar will open at a Batavia jewelry store next week.

A special grand opening event for the wine bar will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at K.Hollis Jewelers, 147 S. Randall Road, on Friday, Oct. 9. There will be half-price wine, appetizers, music, raffles and more.

Owners Rob and Karen Hollis said the wine bar will be a great asset when the business hosts special events.

“Creating a warm and welcoming place where our customers feel at home has been a core principle for us from the beginning”, Rob Hollis said. “And with over 4,000 square feet of space we became a comfortable and unique place for networking groups, clubs, and non-profit organizations to gather.”

But since the business did not have a liquor license, they were unable to serve wine at the special events.

“We weren’t licensed to serve liquor and there was not an existing liquor license classification that fit our circumstances,” Rob Hollis said.

Rob and Karen Hollis approached the city of Batavia to see if they could create a new liquor license classification that would allow them to serve wine at a retail location.

“The city was open to the idea and extremely accommodating. We are now able to serve wine to our customers throughout the day while shopping or during special events,” Rob Hollis said.

The Wine Bar will be hosting a Sip & Shop on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and wine will be half-price. The wine bar will also host The Friday Social Club from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be availability for private events on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays.
