Littlejohn Elementary Teachers Flipping Burgers Instead of Pages

Local teachers serve students and families on McTeacher's Night to raise money for student incentives.

DeKalb| Littlejohn Elementary School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support the School's student incentives program.

Teachers from DeKalb School District 428 volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, April 9th at the McDonald's located on Lincoln Hwy. The teachers worked hard to serve students and their families in a fundraiser for the Elementary School.

Several teachers from Littlejohn worked during this three-hour event. Teachers Schmidt, Horlock, and Gerace wore the Pie Costume and enjoyed taking pictures with many of the Littlejohn Students.

The proceeds from the sale of 115 pies went directly to benefit Littlejohn PTO, as well as fifteen percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales.

John Lardas, Owner-Operator of the DeKalb McDonald’s, was delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

“McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community,” Lardas said.

“We are proud to serve the families of the Littlejohn community and through the McTeacher’s Night event. In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”

Lardas donated a case of apple pies to the school for sale at the event. Inspired by the success of McTeacher’s Night, Yanni Management has set their sights on partnering with other schools in the Dekalb area.

“The teachers and everyone who rolled up their sleeves in support of this event” are the fabric that strengthens our community,” Lardas said.
