'Manpower Issues' Said to Cause Metra West Line Delays

Some trains on the Union Pacific West Line were operating nearly an hour behind schedule this morning. 

The delays are caused by "manpower issues," according to Metra's website and numerous e-mail alerts. 

At least six trains were canceled Monday morning, and many were running well-behind schedule. 

A Metra spokesperson attributed the tardiness to a combination of family leave and staff training. 

The Daily Herald is reporting that 13 engineers failed to clock in today. 

It's unclear how this will affect the rush hour commute later today.
