District 304 Hires New Assistant Superintendent

Dean Romano will join District 304 this summer.

From Geneva Community Unit School District 304: The Geneva CUSD 304 Board of Education on Monday approved the hiring of Dr. Dean Romano as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services for the District. Dr. Romano will begin his assignment July 1.

Romano currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for Yorkville CUSD 115. He has a master’s degree in School Business Management from Northern Illinois University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. He currently serves as a director for the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) Board of Directors, and previously served as president of the South West Association of School Business Officials.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Romano join us in Geneva 304,” said Superintendent Kent Mutchler. “He brings with him many years of experience, a demonstrated ability to work well with others, and extensive knowledge in school finance. His approach is focused on supporting a learning environment in which students are at the center.”

The position of Assistant Superintendent of Business Services is being vacated by Donna Oberg, who will retire at the end of the school year after 10 years with the District.

The Assistant Superintendent of Business Services oversees the District’s finances and facilities as well as the transportation and food service departments. In his current position, Romano is responsible for managing district finances and providing oversight for transportation, facilities, food service, and human resources. Prior to his current position in Yorkville, Romano served as Assistant Superintendent at the same school district.

Romano began his career in education serving as business manager for Maercker Elementary School District 60 in Clarendon Hills, Ill., where he remained for seven years until his employment at Yorkville.
