Area residents can provide their feedback on several potential changes to Metra's fare structure and ticket options,

GENEVA, IL – With Metra looking to make several changes to its fare structure, several open houses, including one in Geneva, will be held in coming weeks. The first forum will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1 at the Kane County Government Center, 719 Batavia Ave., Geneva. Metra officials are hoping to gather customer feedback about several potential changes to its fare structure and ticket options, according to a news release.

Customers who cannot attend one of the open houses can review the study recommendations and provide comments online. Metra is also welcoming public comments sent to via e-mail.

The goal of this initiative is to create a flexible fare structure that allows Metra to segment and price markets differently; give Metra more flexibility to increase fare revenue while providing more control over ridership impacts from fare changes; encourage off-peak travel and better use off-peak capacity; and redefine zones to define premium destinations and address perceived inconsistencies, according to a city of Geneva news release.
