National Thrift Chain 'Savers' Opens Today (Thursday) in St. Charles
National thrift store holds grand opening Thursday morning.
Savers, a national thrift chain, will open its fourth Illinois store Thursday in St. Charles.
“We’re very excited about opening another Savers location in the Chicago area,” said Cyndie Tamburrino, the new store manager said in a press release. “Our stores have been very well received, and we can’t wait to offer our customers even more great deals on gently used clothing and household goods. We’re also thrilled to expand our partnerships with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago which will provide additional revenue to help them fund important programs and services.”
The St. Charles Savers, 3880 East Main St., has floor space of more than 30,000 square feet and will carry clothing and accessories, housewares and electronics. The store will also have a donation center so residents can drop off reusable clothing and household goods.

The grand opening of the St. Charles location will kick off with an 8:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Savers management, representatives from the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago and St. Charles Mayor Donald DeWitte. The store has a funding partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.
Savers pays the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago for every donated item, turning otherwise unused goods into sustainable revenue that supports their programs and services in the local community.

“We’ve had a successful partnership with Savers since they opened their first store in Chicago,” said Philip Gattone, president of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago. “There are approximately 130,000 people and their families living in the Chicago area affected by epilepsy, and our partnership with Savers allows us to turn otherwise unused goods into support for our valuable programs and ongoing research to find a cure.”
Special grand opening activities begin Thursday and continue through Saturday, including the chance to win one of five $100 Savers gift certificates. The new St. Charles store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
