GENEVA, IL — All lanes of State Street are closed Monday due to a natural gas leak, city officials said.
The Geneva Fire Department reported the gas leak at 10:49 a.m. Monday after a contractor working on relocating underground utilities ahead of the highway reconstruction project inadvertently struck a natural gas line near Kane Street, according to a news release.
While the gas line is being repaired, the Geneva Police Department is rerouting eastbound State Street drivers to Route 25. Westbound drivers are being diverted onto East Side Drive.
