GENEVA, IL — A contractor struck both the water and gas lines in the 300 block of Anderson Boulevard while digging in the area Friday morning, Geneva officials said.
The Geneva Public Works Department and Nicor Gas crews were called to the area around 10:30 a.m. to secure the utilities. No evacuations were necessary, but the Geneva Fire Department notified Geneva High School, located a block away, as a precaution, city officials said.
The water division finished repairing the damaged line around 1:20 p.m., around the time when Nicor crews stopped the gas leak, according to an update.
