New Principal Chosen for Fabyan Elementary School

​Lauri Haugen will join the elementary school as its new principal starting with the 2017-18 school year.

GENEVA, IL - Lauri Haugen has been named the new principal at Fabyan Elementary School for the 2017-2018 school year. She brings 17 years of experience in the field of elementary education to this new role. Haugen started her career as a classroom teacher in Community Consolidated School District 15, teaching kindergarten, first grade and second grade at Hunting Ridge Elementary School, according to a news release.

She then worked as a Literacy Specialist in Kaneland Community School District 302 and as a Reading Specialist in West Aurora School District 129. Haugen has served as the Student Assistance Coordinator at Harrison Street Elementary School in Geneva CUSD 304 for the past two years, according to a news release.

Haugen earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from Iowa State University and a Master’s of Science in Reading from Northern Illinois University. Additionally, she has earned license endorsements as a reading specialist and as a school administrator. The vacancy exists due to the resignation of the current principal, who is relocating out-of-state.

"There were many applicants for the principal position at Fabyan Elementary, and Ms. Haugen rose to the top. She is a strong instructional leader and her experience in diverse roles in elementary education make her uniquely qualified for the position of principal," Superintendent Kent Mutchler said. “During the last two years at Harrison, Ms. Haugen demonstrated a student-centered focus and an exceptional ability to build collaborative relationships with teachers and parents. We are excited about the leadership that she will bring to Fabyan Elementary School.”
