New Traffic Pattern Implemented On Kirk Road In Geneva

GENEVA, IL — For the next few weeks, the traffic pattern on Kirk Road will be shifted while the road undergoes a concrete repair project.

Beginning Monday, traffic became limited to one lane in each direction on Kirk Road, in the exterior and curbside lanes to accommodate the Kane County Division of Transportation-helmed project.

The county began work on Kirk Road in April and recently completed concrete work on the outside lanes and sidewalks as well as patching between State Street in Geneva and Route 64 in St. Charles.

As the concrete cured, the county shifted focus to the inside lanes to perform similar patching and curb repairs. The interior lanes are expected to be shut down for a few weeks to facilitate concrete removals and pours.

Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Kirk Road will remain open to traffic, but lane closures will be intermittent, officials said.

The overall project includes Portland cement concrete patching, accessible sidewalk ramp improvements, concrete median removal and replacement, and concrete curb and gutter removal and replacement.

Construction is expected to be substantially completed in June, with the final completion date targeted for July, according to a news release.
