No. 7: Fiora's Got a Spinach Salad and a Bosc Pear With Your Name on It

10 under $10: Yes, it's a beautiful, upscale restaurant, but you can still find an under-$10 salad to die for.

We've kind of taken a tour of the world in the course of our trip through Geneva restaurants. Who would have guessed this from a cheap eats series of stories?

And we'll stop recapping where we've been so far. You can  find out by clicking on the column header. Add some Bosc pears to the list of goodies, will you?

Fiora's is a restaurant in the grand tradition of Geneva's Third Street: a beautiful business made to occupy a beautiful former living space. West Suburban Living Magazine named this eatery Best New Restaurant of 2010, so there can't be anything here for us, can there? Indeed there is. It's a light dish, but let's be honest: after all the heavy eating we've done (and have yet still to do), it's exactly what we need.

Cheap Eat: Baby Spinach with Bosc Pear Salad. Baby spinach  tossed with a pancetta honey vinaigrette, candied walnuts, sliced red onions and bosc pear. Simple, elegant and just $7.95.

About this series

Anytime is a great time to save a few dollars. Unfortunately, if you love to go out to eat, you can find yourself draining those savings rather quickly. Luckily, there's a compromise. Geneva is host to a number of restaurants that are both delicious and affordable.

In this series, we've put together our picks for Geneva's best eats under $10.

Now, here are the very important caveats:

  • Bill wrote this awhile back, and menus and prices are subject to change.
  • Even though they're labeled from No. 1 to No. 10, that doesn't mean that's their rank, by quality or price. It's just the order in which we threw them together.
  • Also, this is not by any means a quintessential list. In fact, if you've got a favorite, let us know! Patch is a participatory sport, and it's OK with us if there are 50 under $10.
