Ooh La La Chocolate Run Coming Up In Downtown Geneva

Portions of several downtown Geneva streets will be closed for a few hours to accommodate the half marathon, 5K and 10K races.

GENEVA, IL — Several downtown Geneva streets will be flooded with runners participating in the ninth annual Ooh La La Chocolate half marathon, 5K and 10K races Sunday.

Registration for the upcoming event is still open through the Chicago Race Management and Timing website. Prices will increase on the day of the races.

Locals should prepare for increased traffic as a result of several street closures that will take effect at 4 a.m.

  • Third Street from James to Franklin streets
  • Campbell Street from River Lane to Second Street and from Fifth to Sixth streets
  • Franklin Street from Second to Sixth streets
  • Second, Fifth and Sixth streets from Campbell to Franklin streets
  • River Lane from Campbell to South streets

Route 31 will remain open during the race, but traffic will be periodically stopped at the intersection with Campbell Street to allow runners to cross.

A detour will be in place to direct drivers around the race course using James, Seventh, Fulton and Third streets, officials said.

Geneva officers will be controlling traffic downtown, but drivers should use caution when on the road or avoid the area altogether if possible, police said.

Roads are expected to reopen by 11 a.m.
