Outstanding serving springs Faith Christian past St. Thomas More

Faith Christian Academy served its way to a 25-23, 25-21 victory over St. Thomas More Catholic School's sixth-grade boys volleyball team in the JV's second straight win on Monday in Elgin. Osten "Robin" Lockner blistered St. Thomas More with six consecutive service points in the first set, and Julia "JT" Turek went 6 for 6 serving with three service winners to catapult the Falcons past the Chargers in the second set. Great serving, Falcons!

Ethan "Easy" Hansen added 7 for 7 serving with two service winners, including serving the winning point to clinch the first set, and Osten delivered four more service points in the second set, inclucing three service winners and an ace. FCA was especially accurate in the second set, going 17 for 19. "King" Cole Schulze went 3 for 3, Ethan was 2 for 2 and Josiah "Josie" Gartner was 1 for 1.

Julia earned the hustle award for outstanding 11 for 11 serving and several great passes to St. Thomas More's back row that the Chargers had difficulty returning. Cole shared the best attitude award for his hustle and readiness at setter along the net along with Adam Tollios, who made some key passes to setter and a great back bump over the net for a big point in the first set.

FCA nearly swept the doubleheader when the varsity Falcons took St. Thomas More's eighth-grade squad to three sets before the hosts prevailed 25-23, 22-25, 15-9. The Falcons battled the Chargers toe to toe before St. Thomas More edged them in the first set. Faith trailed 19-15 in the second set but rallied behind a team effort. Osten delivered three service points, Jessica Smith and Mackenzie VanDerSnick pounded home kills and
