Petition Filing For Geneva's April 2023 Consolidated Election Begins

So far, six people have filed petitions to run for one of the five alderperson positions open in the City of Geneva.

GENEVA, IL — Starting Monday, candidates for aldermanic positions on City Council began filling their petition packets with the City of Geneva ahead of April's Consolidated Election.

In Geneva, the spots currently held by Tara Burghard, Brad Kosirog, Dean Kilburg, Gabriel Kaven and Craig Maladra, in Ward 1 through 5, respectively, will be up for reelection. That leaves one alderperson per ward whose term runs for another two years, expiring in 2025.

After circulating their petitions for three months, candidates running for office began filing their petitions Monday for the upcoming April election. The deadline for candidates to file is 5 p.m. Dec. 19.

So far, six people have filed petitions, according to Kevin Stahr, Geneva's city clerk.
