Photo Gallery: 2011 Pep Rally Lights a Fire for GHS Students
The bonfire is back! And there enough spirit today to last a lifetime.
There was a lot of great music at Thursday night's Homecoming Pep Rally at —from Hey, Baby (If You'll Be My Girl) to Party Rock Anthem (Every day I'm Shufflin') to the Homecoming theme, Under the Sea.
But the one I'm thinking of right now is that old Jose Feliciano version of The Doors hit, somewhere in the middle of the song when he's ad libbing ...
"Light my fire, light my fire, light my fire, light my fire ... "

The bonfire was BACK this year, my friends, after what GHS Principal Tom Rogers said was a three- or four-year hiatus, in which weather conditions and Geneva Fire Department safety concerns prevented the whole light-my-fire thing.
Senior football team co-captain Ben Rogers thanked the band and fans and praised the best cheering section in the state of Illinois.

There were cheerleading and dance performances, status reports from the co-captains of all the fall sports teams, a Bozo-buckets-like charity event for , a grade-school cheering contest (congratulations, Williamsburg Elementary!), a dance redux, the announcement of the Homecoming court (story coming tomorrow) and a tremendous amount of fun.
If you took pictures, add them to this photo story. It will be more fun if you share.
Tomorrow we'll run the Homecoming court, and time permitting, add some video.
Sleep well. Happy Homecoming!
