Playhouse 38 Moves to New Location

A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for July 8.

Playhouse 38, a facility of the Geneva Park District, which is host to the District’s cultural arts program has moved to 321 Stevens Street, Suite P in downtown Geneva.

The public is invited to attend a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, July 8 at 5:30 pm.

“Those who attend this exciting event will have the opportunity for a meet and greet with the young talented stars of Disney’s Mulan Jr., speak with our show directors and enjoy lite fare provided by Deane’s Market & Deli. Popcorn and cotton candy will also be available at the theatre. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to enjoy the opening night of the youth production of Disney’s Mulan Jr. following the ribbon cutting at 7:00 pm. Other performances include July 9 at 3:00 and 7:00 pm and July 10 at 3:00 pm. Tickets are available in advance at Sunset Community Center or at the Playhouse 38 box office,” said Traci Wicks, Director of Marketing & Public Relations.

The next production scheduled at Playhouse 38 is the adult production of Harvey, which is about Elwood P. Dowd a polite and friendly man with a strange best friend, a 6 foot invisible rabbit, Harvey. This witty and charming comedy will debut August 25-28.

“We will host a fun-filled celebration on Thursday, August 25 kicking off the opening night performance of Harvey and of the adult community theatre at the new location. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and will be available in mid-July,” said Wicks.

The new location, at 321 Stevens Street is larger and can accommodate 100 seats per performance. “We now have the space to accommodate performance prep areas (green room), concession sales, and have improved sound and lighting. Most importantly, this new location is home to a larger stage with a permanent base structure that is ADA accessible. This new location allows us to meet the community’s needs and expand our cultural arts program offerings without our previous space limitations.” said Sheavoun Lambillotte, Executive Director.
