St. Charles Police are investigating several reports of area customers being out thousands of dollars after high-furniture they purchased from a St. Charles business was never delivered.
The St. Charles Police Department has received about 30 reports since August regarding Premier Interiors, which was located at 619 W. Main St. in St. Charles, said St. Charles Deputy Chief David Kintz. Shortly after the complaints started coming in, the business closed.

Customers have told police they paid for the high-end, custom furniture but never received it. One customer was still waiting for furniture from his $50,000 order to arrive, Kintz said. Police are sorting through the business’s financial records to determine if a crime has been committed.
“We are trying to determine if this is a situation involving a business going under or if there was some sort of fraud that was going on,” Kintz said.

Customers told Patch and police they were giving various reasons from Premier Interiors on why they did not receive their furniture. Police said the owner had serious health issues and was trying to file bankruptcy when issues began to arise. One customer said he was told his delivery truck got into an accident and Premier had to re-order his $5,000 couch. He was later told the business would refund his money but he never received his money back. Several customers have posted similar complaints on Yelp.
No arrests have been made and Kintz said it could take police awhile to sort through all the financial documents to determine if any type of fraud was committed. St. Charles police expect more reports will be filed as they continue to investigate.
“All of these people are out a lot of money and are not seeing any of their furniture,” Kintz said.
