Police: Report of Boy With Gun at School Bus Stop is 'Unfounded'
The incident was reported Wednesday morning in the 900 block of Longview Drive in Geneva.

Geneva police have determined a report of a boy seen placing a small handgun into the pocket of his sweatshirt while waiting for a school this morning in the 900 block of Longview Drive was unfounded.
Police have also determined that no children were ever at risk following the incident that was reported at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Geneva Police Department press release.
Police immediately responded to the area but did not find the boy, who was described as middle-school age, there. Police were able to quickly identify the teen who lives in Geneva but attends school in St. Charles.

By 8:39 a.m., police confirmed through an eyewitness that the boy at the St. Charles school was the young teen that was reported to Geneva Police at the bus stop. St. Charles police met with the boy and determined he did not have a weapon in his possession.
During the course of the investigation, police responded to Geneva Middle School North and South campuses as a precautionary measure.

“The Geneva Police Department coordinated a quick and effective response to a potential threat thanks to the cooperation of the St. Charles Police Department, Geneva Community Unit School District 304 and school officials in St. Charles,” according to the news release. “Geneva Police also would like to thank the concerned resident for quickly reporting what he felt was a possible threat to our community.”
