GENEVA, IL — One of the worst things to deal with post-winter is the array of potholes in the streets. Soon in Geneva, the pesky holes will be fixed on East State Street.

The Geneva Public Works Department is planning to patch potholes along the Route 38 corridor starting May 23. The project is expected to last two weeks.

During that time, eastbound State Street from Route 25 to East Side Drive will be reduced to one lane from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from May 23 to May 26. Crews will conduct a moving work zone in the curb lane, according to a news release. Each afternoon, the roadway will fully reopen before the repairs resume the following day.

Similar construction will then take place on the same stretch but on the westbound curb from May 31 to June 3, weather permitting.

To complete the work, pothole patching on East State Street's interior lanes is expected to be completed this summer, officials said.
