Repairs Planned On Route 31 Train Bridge In Geneva

GENEVA, IL — Repairs are planned Saturday on the Route 31 train bridge in Geneva, officials said in an alert.

As a result of the construction, helmed by Union Pacific, the roadway near the underpass will be reduced to one lane in both directions on Saturday. Flaggers will be in place directing drivers, who should expect delays throughout the day, officials said.

The repair is not related to Union Pacific's ongoing Third Main Line project in Geneva, according to the alert.

City staff encouraged drivers wanting to avoid the work zone to use Third Street but said they should be mindful of pedestrians in the area.
