Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Chicago Area

Severe storms, large hail and damaging winds could hit this evening.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for communities through the Chicago area through 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The main severe threat is expected to be large hail, which could be up to two inches in diameter; damaging wind gusts; and an isolated tornado.

The southern Chicago suburbs are expected to be hardest hit by storms Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Storms are expected again on Tuesday afternoon. High temps in the 80s are expected inland and in the 70s near Lake Michigan.
