Sidewalk, Curb Construction In Geneva To Start Next Week

Once sidewalks and curbs are replaced during the work week, they will need five days to cure, officials said.

GENEVA, IL — Geneva's sidewalk and maintenance program begins June 26, officials announced.

Work will last through June 30, and it will be followed by a five-day curing period that will run into July.

The project will be helmed by the city's contractor, Globe Construction. Crews will start on the southwest side of the city and work their way east throughout the week.

Construction will include removing the old sidewalk, setting forms, pouring concrete and smoothing over the new surface.

The sections of sidewalks and curbs that are scheduled to be replaced are marked with white paint, officials said. A map of all impacted spots can be found on the city's website.

Nearby residents were mailed notices of the work in mid-June. Some locals will be required to park their cars on the street if their driveways will be impacted during construction, officials said.
