Southbound Route 25 In Geneva Closes For Storm Sewer Construction

The work is part of the East State Street reconstruction project and is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

GENEVA, IL — A segment of Route 25 in Geneva is closed Wednesday due to construction at the intersection of East State Street, city officials said.

Crews are installing storm sewer laterals at the intersection as part of the East State Street reconstruction project. Work was scheduled to start at 6 a.m. and is expected to be finished by the afternoon, according to a news release.

This detour is in place for southbound traffic: west on Route 38, south on Route 31 and east on Fabyan Parkway to reconnect with Route 25. Drivers on Route 38 cannot turn south onto Route 25 and must follow the detour.

Drivers should expect delays and may want to use alternate routes, officials said. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic as needed.
